I never saw the movie so I didn't know that I was supposed to stop drinking merlot. Now I won't see the movie and will continue drinking merlot. I would guess that even if I had seen the movie I would continue drinking merlot because I like the taste and couldn't care less what someone else says about it. Of course, you know that would be my answer.

Great comment - and one worthy of discussion over a great bottle of vintage Port, or an Alsace Pinot Gris, or maybe a Pfalz Gewurztraminer, or a Vosne-Romanee Burgundy. I suppose it depends on our mood, what we're eating, what we want to spend… Most experienced, and knowledgeable, wine drinkers will deftly avoid answering the question "What is your favorite wine?" because the more you get to know the world of wine, the more you tend to appreciate its amazing diversity.

Thanks for the anecdote.

I have a couple of friends who were discussing that movie and how ridiculous it was that people changed their wine preference based on it. Then one of them said "Cab Sauv is where it's at," which seemed just as ridiculous to me. Why does a particular wine have to be "where it's at" at all? I also thought, "Only a Sith deals in absolutes."
